The 2020 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was scheduled to end way back in the month of March. However, just before the playoffs, the massive COVID-19 pandemic made sure that the tournament had to be postponed for an indefinite time period. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) somehow scratched its head and managed to find a window for the playoffs.

The last four games of the PSL 2020 will get underway on Saturday, November 14. All the games would be played at the National Stadium in Karachi and with safety protocols in place, the matches will take place behind closed doors. In the day’s first game, Multan Sultans, led by Shan Masood and the Imad Wasim-captained Karachi Kings are scheduled to lock horns in the Qualifier.

Thereafter, Sohail Akhtar’s Lahore Qalandars and the Peshawar Zalmi will be facing each other under the lights in the Eliminator 1. On Sunday, November 15, the Eliminator 2 will take place. The final is scheduled to take centre-stage on Tuesday, November 17. The tournament authorities would be hoping for the remaining for contests to go through without any unwanted hassle.

PSL already dealt with a few blows

A number of players have already pulled out of the championship due to a number of reasons. The likes of Daren Sammy, Mitchell McClenaghan, Kieron Pollard and many others won’t be a part of the tournament. Adam Lyth, Brendan Taylor, Sherfane Rutherford, Sohaib Maqsood and a few others have been called up as replacements.

Bangladesh’s Mahmudullah and England’s James Vince were tested positive for the novel coronavirus and they won’t be playing as well. Faf du Plessis, who’s fresh from playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will be making his PSL debut, representing the Zalmi. Before the playoffs, teams have already taken part in a couple of warm-up matches each.
