Former Indian stumper Syed Kirmani has backed MS Dhoni and said that India at the moment needs his experience. The 67-year-old world cup winner also went on to bash former pacer Ajit Agarkar, who recently questioned Dhoni’s spot in the T20I side. Dhoni came under severe criticism after India lost the 2nd T20I match at Rajkot by a massive margin of 40 runs.

MS scored a 36-ball 49 and failed to up the tempo when required. Kirmani said that the Dhoni has won many games for the country and he knows when to hang up his boots. He also added that one or two ordinary outing doesn’t really rule out the former skipper.

“I don’t know why this is happening. As the commander of the Indian team, Dhoni brought laurels to the country in all three formats of the game. He has been a great servant of Indian cricket and also an inspiration to youngsters. You need an experienced guy in the team,” Kirmani told International Business Times, India.

It is only the experience which comes in handy in the time of crisis. Bad form always comes. One or two failures don’t mean Dhoni is over the hill. Do not push Dhoni out. Do not write against him. Stop talking about Dhoni, let him take his own decision. He knows when to retire.

Dhoni made way for Kohli: Kirmani

The veteran with 88 Test matches under his belt went on to say that he sacrificed his Test spot to help Virat Kohli shine and take control. “Rightly, he gave up his Test spot to promote Virat Kohli. Now too he will take the right decision. You have to leave the decision (to retire) to Dhoni and not force him out with people of least experience writing against him.”

Kirmani had some strong words for Agarkar, who has time and again put a question mark on Dhoni’s position in the side. “The players who were in the Indian team and retired now don’t want experienced players like Dhoni in the side. I don’t know for what reason. A guy like Agarkar is telling Dhoni to quit. Who is Agarkar in front of Dhoni to say such a thing? And such guys are allowed to say all these things and media prints them without knowing what Dhoni is all about,” he said.
