Ali Khan, the name might not be new to many of us but let’s take a detailed journey round the 29-year-old bowler. Khan has made it to history by becoming the first cricketer from the USA, who will be featured in IPL 2020. The right-arm bowler has been roped in by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to replace the Harry Gurney, who will not be seen on the field for quite some time.

The USA cricketer was the member of Trinbago Knight Riders, the franchise owned by Shah Rukh Khan only. TKR lifted the CPL trophy this week, where he scalped eight wickets in the total matches he was part of. The pacer was in close touch with SRK and Venky Mysore since 2018 and was very much willing to be part of the KKR lot. He has already taken a flight to Dubai along with Caribbean star Dwayne Bravo and will join his new team soon.

The journey of Ali Khan so far

The USA based pacer was born and brought up in Pakistan but moved to the USA at the age of 18 to kick-start his career in the cricket world. His love and dedication for the game crossed all boundaries and earned him a place in the USA’s cricket team.

Though he has sported ODI cap only once, he is quite a name for plying his trade in the various T20 leagues across the globe. He has been part of CPL, Pakistan Super League, Global T20 Canada, Abu Dhabi T10 league and Bangladesh Premier League, etc.

Khan was the only player who was booked in for IPL 2020 auction from the USA, but his name didn’t show up during the same event. The pacer has been part of the TKR lot for three years now. In his debut session, he stunned people by scalping 16 wickets, followed by ten wickets in 2019 and eight wickets in the current season.

The Pakistan-born has also featured in nine List A matches along with 36 T20s for now. He might seem less as far as experience at the international level is concerned, but carries the exposure of playing in every part of the world under his belt.
