Indian cricketer and former Rajasthan Royals pacer S Sreesanth went through terrible seven years after being caught under the spot-fixing scandal of IPL 2013. It was only after that season that Sreesanth along with few other cricketers were given a complete ban and they couldn’t play at any level. However, the pacer’s ban only lifted this year and he started plying his trade in domestic circuits.

In the latest turn of events, he opened up on his spot-fixing saga and told his side of the story. He added it was supposed to be one over of 14 plus runs and defended himself by adding that he didn’t produce any no ball or wide ball and was maintaining his pace even after two surgeries on his toe.

Sreesanth added by the time he landed in the RR pool, he had played Irani Trophy and was also one of the probable players for the South Africa series in 2013. In that case, how could he have fixed the league or that one over for just 10 Lakhs and that too when his casual partying bills summed to 2 lakhs easily.

“I had played the Irani Trophy and was looking to play the South African series so that we can win in September 2013. We were going early, and it moves better in September. My goal was to play that series. A person like that, why would I do it, that too for 10 lakhs? I am not talking big but I used to have bills of around 2 lakhs when I partied around,” said Sreesanth while speaking to Sportskeeda.

If I had so much cash, I would have been spraying it out: S Sreesanth

The former pacer further added that he didn’t have so much money in his backyard and if he had, he would’ve been spraying it out. Also, he couldn’t have given his all for just that particular over. It was only due to the prayers and love of his well-wishers that he was able to get out of that mess in his life, the pacer reckoned.

“I used to pay with my card not cash. If I had so much of cash, I would have been spraying it out. In fact, I used to take care of even a normal person. In my life, I have only helped and given belief. I have helped a lot of people, and those prayers helped me get out of this. All I would ask is – two balls, five runs, two balls to go. How would I give away all that I had invested? No way,” he added.
