Mitchell Marsh did everything well for Australia in the 1st T20I and will be a hot favourite for the second game.

Match Details

West Indies and Australia will battle it out in the second T20I match of the five-match T20I series. The match will be played at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia.

The second match of the series will be played on 10th July 2021 and will be streamed live on FanCode. The match will begin at 7:30 PM local time (5:00 AM IST, 11th July).

Preview

West Indies got into the first of the five matches after losing their skipper Kieron Pollard. It is not confirmed if he will return to the team in the second match or not. If that doesn’t happen, we will witness Nicholas Pooran continuing his role.

Speaking of the first match, West Indies batted first on a pitch that could be termed a bit slow in nature. However, it was Russell’s death overs blitz that took the hosts to 145 for 6. Australia started the chase in a fantastic way and was well on course to get to the target. But the visitors slipped from 108 for 4 to 127 all-out and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Captaincy Picks for WI vs AUS

Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh has been given the job of batting at no. 3 in this team. In his first appearance in his new role, he turned up with a crucial 31-ball 51 run knock. Though he would be gutted for not helping his team to a win, his contribution can’t be underestimated. He also bowled a four-over spell, in which he ended with figures of 2 for 26.

Andre Russell

Andre Russell showed in the first T20I, exactly why he is such a dangerous player in the T20 format. His knock of 51 runs which came from just 28 balls, completely changed the game and elevated West Indies’ chance of a win. He, later on, picked up an important wicket as well. His multi-dimensionality makes him a valuable asset.
