The fact that West Indies smashed 13 sixes while chasing 132 could show that the hosts had the upper hand over Sri Lanka in the first T20I in Antigua. Though Kieron Pollard and Co won by four wickets, at one point in time, Wanindu Hasaranga and Akila Dananjaya made things tough for them. The second T20I of the series is set to be played at the same venue at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.

The Lankans, more than their bowling, would be looking to improve on their batting. A number of their batters got starts, but couldn’t convert. Pathum Dissanka, who made his T20I debut, and Niroshan Dickwella, got into the 30s. In the bowling department, Dananjaya’s hat-trick was overshadowed by the fact that he was hit for six sixes in a row in his third over of his quota.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the Coolidge Cricket Ground was an absolute belter for batting. Though the Lankans faltered with the bat, the Caribbean team went on a six-hitting spree and showed how good the pitch is. Batting second should be the way forward as even a score of 200 may not be on the safe side.

Probable Top Performers

Evin Lewis– West Indies

Evin Lewis was in top-notch form in the first game of the series. The southpaw managed 28 runs off 10 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. He was one of the wickets of Dananjaya’s hat-trick. If the Lankans don’t get him out early, then they could end up chasing leather in the game.

Wanindu Hasaranga– Sri Lanka

Wanindu Hasaranga was in stupendous form in the opening T20I in Antigua. In four overs, he picked up three wickets. Moreover, he didn’t concede too many runs either, conceding only 12 runs at an economy rate of three. It remains to be seen if he is able to carry forward the same form ahead too.
