South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has been named as a replacement for pacer Wayne Parnell, who has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against Bangladesh due to an injury. Parnell suffered a groin strain and is likely to sit out for a longer time. The 28-year old was not considered for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. Mulder plays for Lions in the domestic competition and he will be raring to go.

Apart from him, Robbie Frylinck has also earned a berth in the Proteas squad. The Dolphin’s all-rounder has been selected for the 2-match T20I series. The 33-year old ended victorious during this year’s CPL. He played for Trinbago Knight Riders. An experienced campaigner in the shortest format of the game, Frylinck has played 87 T20s, scalping 87 wickets along with 677 runs under his kitty.

“The selection of Robbie provides another opportunity to explore our depth in the important all-rounder position. Apart from his bowling strengths, he has a proven record as a finisher with the bat,” CSA National Selection Panel Convener, Linda Zondi, said.

Rabada, Tahir rested

“Imran remains our first-choice spinner in both the limited overs formats but we also need to develop depth in this important area which is why we have given further opportunities to Shamsi and Phangiso,” Zondi said.

South Africa have rested Kagiso Rabada for the T20I series along with spinner Imran Tahir. Rabada has been rested considering the workload on his shoulder across all three formats of the game while Tahir has been given a breather so that the likes of Tabraiz Shamsi and Aaron Phangiso gets the opportunity.
