Termed as one of the best bowling units even before the start of the IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad yet again proved why they got that tag when they beat Kings XI Punjab defending a total of 133 runs. After getting a breakthrough in the form of KL Rahul’s wicket, the Hyderabad bowlers rattled the batting unit of Kings XI.
Sandeep Sharma, the former Punjab bowler played a very important role picking up two wickets. The 24-year-old bowler has praised his skipper Williamson for their side’s brilliant performance.
Earlier, batting first, Hyderabad batting yet again tumbled early on. It was UP-pacer Ankit Rajpoot who dismantled the Hyderabad batting when he struck in his very first over to remove in-form skipper Williamson. He quickly removed Dhawan and Saha to leave SRH tottering. However, It was Manish Pandey’s half-century that took the side’s score to a respectable one. Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan played handy innings.
Rashid-Shakib’s spin, Sharma-Thampi-Kaul’s pace too hot to handle
Chris Gayle and KL Rahul yet again provided a great start to the side but once the wicket of KL Rahul fell, the side could not bear the run chase pressure. Kane Williamson’s effective bowling changes during the innings made sure the top bowlers kept operating throughout the innings, troubling the batters.
Rashid Khan and Shakib Khan bowled spectacularly well while Sharma along with Thampi and Kaul gave no chance of scoring as they kept chipping in with regular wickets.
Speaking of his skipper, Sandeep Sharma said that Williamson has been a great influence on the side. Sharma suggested that Williamson is a very calm person. According to Sharma, Williamson always remains positive and even if the side scores a low score, he asks them to forget what happened and try to win the game with bowling. Sharma said that a calm leader helps in bringing confidence to everyone in the team.
