West Indies spinner Sunil Narine has been reported for a suspected bowling action by the on-field officials during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) game in Sharjah where the 29-year-old offspinner was representing Lahore Qalandars against Quetta Gladiators. Interestingly, the bowler has been found in trouble with his bowling action on numerous occasions in the past as well.

Lahore qalandars led by Brendon McCullum has failed to qualify further in the tournament following their disappointing performance. The side is set to play their last game in the third season of the PSL on Friday.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the same by releasing a statement on the issue. “Narine has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action during Wednesday’s PSL Twenty20 game between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators at Sharjah,” said the board statement.

The PCB also confirmed that the report of the match officials will be sent to the Cricket West Indies (CWI)

However, the bowler can still bowl in the remainder of the tournament as he is still on a warning list. If the match officials find his action illegal again and If gets reported in the PSL, things can get difficult for the bowler in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Can be a blow to KKR

Narine has been an integral part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where has played a massive role in the side’s success in the recent past. The bowler along with his Windies teammate Andre Russel was retained by the KKR management for the 11th edition of the IPL in the month of January.

With just one match remaining in the PSL for Narine, he would be hoping to get it over real quick so that he can try and re-work his action ahead of the IPL so that nothing of this sort gets repeated when he takes part in the IPL which starts on 7th April in Mumbai.
