With most of the top brass of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) either in trouble or ousted following a crackdown from the Lodha Panel, England’s tour of India is once again back in jeopardy. There was a previous occasion when the New Zealand tour was under threat when the Lodha panel had frozen the accounts of the BCCI.

An undisclosed official from the Board went on to state that most of the senior state officials are ineligible as far as the Lodha recommendations are concerned. However, the fact of the matter remains that there will be confusion when the local board takes over.

“With all state associations forced to comply with the recommendations, most of the senior state officials stand ineligible to operate. Eventually, a match is hosted by the local association and all of a sudden you don’t know who is in charge. The entire board is in a state of confusion,” a top BCCI official told TOI on Monday.

The official also went on to add that things were going fine until the Supreme Court decided on making the massive decision. He also added that with both Sharad Pawar and Ajay Shirke, the Mumbai Cricket Association and the Pune Cricket Association heads’ absence will cause chaos with no signing authority available for the junior officials.

“Everything was going fine so far. The England team is due to play India A on Jan 10 and Jan 12 in Mumbai. The first ODI is in Pune on Jan 15. And both the associations don’t have their heads in Sharad Pawar and Ajay Shirke. So many people will lose their signing authorities which are essential to host international teams. We will now have to rearrange everything and see what can be done,” added the official.
