Women’s World T20 2018: Day 3- Preview
The third day has two important matches in store that may decide the fate of a couple of teams in the event.

The first standalone Women’s World T20 in the West Indies is currently underway and has already captured the imaginations of the supporters. Both venues- Providence Stadium in Guyana and Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium in St Lucia- have done an excellent job in making all the crucial arrangements. India, Australia and hosts Windies emerged victorious on the first day.
On the contrary, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh didn’t quite make the best of starts and would get two more chances to finish in the top two and make their way into the semi-finals. The match between England and Sri Lanka also turned out to be an exciting one. The third day has two important matches in store that may decide the fate of a couple of teams in the event.
Here’s the prelude of what’s on offer on Day 3 of World T20:
Match 5- India vs Pakistan
India are likely to stick to the same eleven against their arch-rivals in Guyana. Albeit, the middle-order did well, the top-order couldn’t quite come to the party. It will also be interesting to find out Mithali Raj’s batting position. The last match showed that India aren’t devoid of depth in their batting. The bowlers would also be looking to carry over their rich vein of form.
India Probable XI
Tania Bhatia (wk), Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Dayalan Hemalatha, Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Mithali Raj, Veda Krishnamurthy, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, Poonam Yadav
The Women in Green, led by Javeria Khan, may rope in Sidra Ameen in place of Umaima Sohail, who got out cheaply against the Aussies. The experienced players in Bismah Maroof and Sana Mir have to step up and perform. Nashra Sandhu and Alia Riaz need to be amongst the wickets. A lot would also depend on Nida Dar, one of their most prolific all-rounders in the lineup.
Pakistan Probable XI
Ayesha Zafar, Nahida Khan, Sidra Ameen, Bismah Maroof, Javeria Khan (C), Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Sana Mir, Sidra Nawaz (wk), Nashra Sandhu, Anam Amin
Match Timings – 20:30 IST; 11:00 local
Match 6- Australia vs Ireland
The Southern Stars wouldn’t want to tinker with their winning combination. The top order comprising of Healy, Mooney and Lanning did reasonably well against Pakistan and Ireland may find it a little tough to stop them in Guyana. Their middle-order isn’t worth undermining. Barring veteran all-rounder Elyse Perry, their bowling lineup also chipped in with a collective show.
Australia Probable XI
Alyssa Healy (wk), Beth Mooney, Meg Lanning (C), Ashleigh Gardner, Elyse Villani, Rachael Haynes, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux, Delissa Kimmince, Georgia Wareham, Megan Scutt
Ireland Probable XI
Ireland defeated Sri Lanka in a one-sided contest during the warmups and the triumph would keep them in a positive frame of mind. Their bowlers were stupendous against the Lankan, but are expected to be faced with a sterner task against the belligerence of the Aussies. Skipper and middle-order batsman Laura Delany has to lead her team from the front.
Clare Shillington, Cecelia Joyce, Gaby Lewis, Laura Delany (C), Shauna Kavanagh, Kim Grath, Eimear Richardson, Mary Waldron (wk), Celeste Raak, Lara Maritz, Lucy O’Reilly
Match Timings: 1:30 IST (November 12); 16:00 local (November 11)
