World Cup 2015 Match 40 Group A Australia vs Scotland; Another run-fest on cards:
Date:14 March 2015 Time: 0900 IST
Venue: Hobart
Australia
Australia have another wonderful opportunity to oil their engines properly before they face either Pakistan or Ireland in their World Cup quarterfinals. Scotland would poise a perfect foil to Australia to experiment with their batting line-up and give some rest to their bowlers who have been performing to their hilt.
Their batting has been in good form. David Warner, Steven Smith, Michael Clarke, Glen Maxwell all have had wonderful knocks under their belt. Only person to miss out is Aaron Finch who apart from a century on the first day of the tournament has been lying a little low.
Bowling wise Australia is golden. Starc, Johnson, Hazlewood all have been performing to their best ability. Australia might want to give Hazlewood some rest and try Cummins for a change. This is Australia’s final chance to play a match under no pressure whatsoever because after this match, they will be playing in the knockouts.
Scotland
Scotland were comprehensively beaten by Sri Lanka. Their batting collapsed against true fast bowling and spin, and they will face a better pace attack in Australia which will test them to their truest level. The Mitchells Starc and Johnson along with Josh Hazalewood or Pat Cummins will be an experience and lesson in themselves. Preston Mommsen, Calum MacLeod, Kyle Coetzer who have been their main batsmen will look forward to do their absolute best against Australia.
Bowling wise, they are good enough to pose some problems to Australian batsmen, but with David Warner, Glen Maxwell, Steven Smith and Michael Clarke in top form, another total of 400 is on cards if Australia bat first.
Scotland bowling will have to come up with a spirited performance if they want to restrict Australia to any viable total. Their bowling performances will be led by Iain Wardlaw, Richard Berrington and Josh Davey who have been in good form.
