The Indian team might have regained their mojo in the World Cup 2019 with the win against Bangladesh. It was their 6th win in the tournament which brought them one step closer to the coveted trophy. Though the Men in Blue are enjoying their time on the field the same cannot be said about their situation off the field. The team is constantly facing security issues and there has been a divide between the ICC and Indian team management.
Men in Blue form the most popular cricket team in any part of the world and the fans always wait for the glimpses of their superstars. Of late the audience has enjoyed clicking selfies with their heroes. The fan support has definitely helped the side in tough situations but nowadays the admirers have gone a step ahead and breach the privacy of their stars.
Lack of Security arrangements for the Indian team
Several safety issues have been pointed out by the team and it has still not been resolved by the ICC. Players are constantly under fear as the fans are now barging into their private space. When asked about the situation the ICC and Indian team management have contrasting replies.
As per the Indian team officials, the ICC has not taken enough safety measures. They also discussed the invasion of fans a few days back at the team hotel. According to them, their requests have fallen on deaf ears. In the end, they concluded by saying that physical security is required but the norms clash with ICC protocols.
On the other side, ICC has denied such allegations and confirmed that necessary measures have been taken. They also added that changes have been made in their security plans to limit the number of entrants in the team hotel.
“After the invasion of privacy a few days back at the team hotel, there was another request made to the ICC to look into the matter and increase security keeping the safety and privacy of players in mind, but the call hasn’t been answered yet,” this is what the Indian team management had to say as per News18.
