Team India was jolted with an injury blow to Kedar Jadhav during the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) last league game in the Indian Premier League (IPL). There were doubts over his participation in the upcoming World Cup amidst the reports of BCCI waiting till the departure date for the cricketer’s fitness. However, it seems that the wait has worked for them as Kedar Jadhav looks certain to travel with the team to England.

There is still doubt if he would recover fully in time for the practice games. The team management is backing him to be 100% fit just in time for the World Cup. It has been learnt that the BCCI asked physio Patrick Farhart to come back from Australia earlier than scheduled to monitor Jadhav’s injury recovery.

Both have been working together since May 6 in Mumbai and have also consulted specialists and doctors. Moreover, according to the Mumbai Mirror, the BCCI is extremely satisfied with Kedar Jadhav’s fitness at the moment and the perception is that he should be fit for India’s opening game on June 5 against South Africa. If by any chance, there is a delay, Jadhav will definitely be on the park for the next encounter against Australia on June 9.

Jadhav likely to miss practice games

However, Kedar Jadhav will most likely miss the practice games which are deemed to extremely important in the lead up to the World Cup. India are scheduled to play New Zealand and Bangladesh on May 25 and May 28 respectively to get acclimatised to the conditions in England.

But the team management is not too concerned as Kedar Jadhav is an important member of the team. He is a finisher with the bat for the Men in Blue and also bowls quite a few important overs in the middle phase of the innings providing breakthroughs to the team. It remains to be seen now if he can get fully fit for the team’s opening match of the tournament.
