Seeing how well Afghanistan has been playing, it will not be a surprise if they defeat Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan lost their first match of the World Cup to Australia. It was not a competitive day of cricket but Afghanistan does have a good set of players who can take on world-class teams. Spinners like Rashid Khan are yet to get pitches that favour the turn of the ball. If and when that happens, Afghanistan would be more formidable.

Asghar Afghan might get his chance to play today.

Their tales of woe continue in the World Cup. Sri Lanka lost to New Zealand in what could be one of the most one-sided matches the tournament has ever seen. Not only have they dropped the ball on the few opportunities that came their way, but they were also unable to build any substantial partnership. It was too low a total to defend and the bowlers could not do much about it either.

Nuwan Pradeep could be called in for the match against Afghanistan.
