The fierce rivalry between India and Pakistan in cricket needs no introduction. While the players from both the sides of the nation try to keep their emotions under check and put up a profession face on the field, the fans make sure that the essence of rivalry remains alive. Every India-Pakistan clash garners unprecedented viewership across the world. Recently both the teams met in the World Cup and fans were quick to jump to action.

Fans from both countries did all they could to embarrass each other on social media. The love-hate relationship between the Indian and Pakistani fans is nothing new to the world. With so much history between the two countries and the recent political turmoil making things worse, the fans rarely get along well. However, a beautiful sight was witnessed on Wednesday when Pakistan defeated New Zealand to keep themselves in contention for the World Cup semifinal.

The reigning Champions Trophy holders beat the Black Caps by 6 wickets to register their third win of the tournament. An unbeaten 101 from Babar Azam saw Pakistan home in front of a partisan crowd at Edgbaston. Asked to bat first, New Zealand overcame an early collapse to post 237 for 6, riding on the half-tons from Jimmy Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme. In reply, Pakistan chased down the total by losing four wickets with five balls to spare.

Following the game, the ecstatic Pakistan fans were dancing their heart out and one Indian fan also joined them. Pakistani cricket statistician Mazher Arshad caught the beautiful moment on his mobile phone and posted the clip on Twitter.

“Good to see the results today. Whenever Pakistan team is pushed to the corner, we do well. It’s a great team effort, Firstly the bowlers. The way Amir started and then Shaheen… Shadab in the middle overs and the way Babar and Haris batted.. To me Babar played one of the best innings I have seen,” said Sarfaraz after the win.
