Put into the bat first, India piled up a mount against Pakistan with the help of Rohit Sharma (140), Virat Kohli (77) and KL Rahul (57). The Men in Blue collectively put up a score of 336/5 in their first innings. Pakistan bowlers lacked a bit of skill and motivation to restrict Kohli & Co. India batting attack has completely derailed the pointless pacemen of Pakistan. Pak quick Hassan Ali has also been in the headlines for conceding highest runs in the World Cup history. Getting into batting, Pakistan had a shaky start.

The India bowlers didn’t show any sympathy towards the Men in Green batters. They wreaked havoc to dismiss the top order. But, Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman were successful in stitching a good partnership but couldn’t keep Pakistan on winning ways. After Azam fell flat for Vijay Shankar’s inswinger, there was no player to give good stand and eventually, they have seen a tremendous collapse of the batting order.

Now Pakistan will face Afghanistan, England, West Indies and Bangladesh in the rest of the league matches. For Sarfaraz & Co. there are very slim chances to proceed further. They have to win all 4 matches to make the semifinals and meet the big 3. On the other hand, with three wins in 4 matches, India is widely regarded to making the last 4. India stands 3rd on the points table behind Australia and New Zealand.
