Mumbai witnessed yet another nightmare for the bowlers as England chased down the huge total of 230 runs set by South Africa. After been put into bat, South Africa got off to a flyer with their openers De Kock and Amla scoring fifties in quick succession. However, they were slowed down in middle overs but a fine fifty towards the end from JP Duminy pushed South Africa’s total to 229/4.

England openers Jason Roy and Alex Hales gave an even better start for their side despite losing wickets. With the required rate coming down to 10, England planned their chase well with Joe Root leading them from front. However, South Africa tried to give themselves a chance towards the end but it was too late as the England registered their 1st win in this WT20 by 2 wickets with 2 balls to spare. 13.09 – Economy rate of pace bowlers in this game, the worst ever in a full 20 overs game. On other hand, the spinners had an economy rate of 8.81 in the game.

17 – Number of balls taken by England to bring up their fifty. This is the joint 2nd fastest team fifty in T20Is. Fastest is in 16 balls by New Zealand vs Scotland in 2009.

20 – Wides conceded by South Africa in this game. Only West Indies with 23 wides vs SA in 2007 at Johannesburg conceded more than South Africa in a T20I.

21 – Number of balls taken by Quinton De Kock to score his fifty. This is the joint fastest fifty for South Africa in T20Is equaling ABD’s 21-ball fifty also vs England at Johannesburg in Feb, 2016.

De Kock’s fifty is fastest for SA in WT20 beating AB De Villiers’s 24-ball fifty at Chittagong vs England in 2014.

26 – Number of dot balls faced by South Africa while batting. These are the fewest dots a team faced in a completed 20 overs innings in T20Is. Previously 2 instances of teams facing 27 dots have been recorded. England faced only 24 dots during their innings but it wasn’t a completed innings.

26 – Extras conceded by South Africa in this game. These are the joint 3rd most extras conceded by a team in a T20I and the most by any team in a WT20 match.

30 – For the first time in T20I history all the 4 players who scored fifties in a T20I reached it in less than 30 balls.

32 – Innings taken by Faf du Plessis to complete 1000 runs in T20Is. He is now the joint 2nd fastest to the milestone.

49 – Runs conceded by Chris Jordan in his 3 overs. These are the 4th most runs conceded by a bowler in his 3-overs quota in a T20I.

52 – Quinton De Kock’s 52 is now his highest individual score in T20Is. In fact, this is his maiden T20I fifty. His previous highest was 48*.

58 – Hashim Amla’s 58 is the highest individual score during South Africa’s innings of 229/4. In overall Twenty20 format, only once a team scored more than South Africa without any individual scoring 60 runs. Somerset scored 235/7 vs Middlesex in 2011 with highest individual score in their innings been 59.

80 – Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali had a batting strike rate of 80 in the game. Among the players who faced at least 1 ball, Morgan and Moeen are the only players to have a strike rate less than 100 in the match.

172 – Runs scored by both the teams in powerplay overs. This is the highest aggregate in powerplay overs in a T20I. Previous highest in a full 20 over game is 156 in the match between Ireland and Afghanistan in ICC WT20 qualifier final in 2013. Considering first six overs of both the teams, the highest aggregate is 171 during New Zealand-Scotland game in 2009 which was a 7-over match.

224 – Runs scored by Hashim Amla since his last dismissal in T20I Cricket. He broke the most runs between 2 dismissals record of Martin Guptill in T20Is. Guptill scored 216 runs between his 2 dismissals in 2012.

230 – England’s run chase of 230 is the 2nd highest in T20Is and also the 2nd highest in overall Twenty20 format. Highest is 232 by West Indies in 2015 also vs South Africa at Johannesburg.

This is also the highest total in T20Is for England and the 2nd highest total in WT20 history.

288 – Runs scored in fours and sixes during the game. These are the 3rd most runs scored in fours and sixes in a T20I.
