The last few months for Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha hasn’t been overwhelming by any stretch of the imagination. He injured his hamstring during India’s tour of South Africa owing to which he couldn’t play the Test matches in Centurion and Johannesburg respectively. Parthiv Patel eventually replaced him and played the final two matches.

Saha played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). During the cash-rich tournament, he was struck on the fingers by fast-bowler Shivam Mavi after which he couldn’t play a few matches. He was also ruled out of India’s historic Test against Afghanistan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, which they comprehensively won.

He was also not included in the Indian squad for their first three matches against England. In the meantime, he underwent rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. He recovered from the finger-injury, much to his relief. However, his relationship with injuries didn’t end there as he developed a shoulder injury and will miss the remaining Test matches in England as well.

‘All is Well’ for Saha

Moreover, he may also miss out on India’s upcoming tour of Australia later this year. Dinesh Karthik played the Afghanistan Test and he is also a part of the team in the ongoing Test series on English soil. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old underwent a repair surgery on Wednesday in Manchester. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also wished him for a speedy recovery.

The operation seemed to have gone off well as Saha returned to India and sounded delighted on the recent developments of his career. Quite expectantly, he would be desperate to hit the cricket pitch at the earliest. After reaching home, he took to Twitter and expressed his gratitude to his supporters.

He wrote, “All Is Well..now back home..Thank You everyone for keeping me in your prayers. Grateful to @BCCI for taking care of every minute details.”
