Chamari Atapattu’s individual brilliance against Australia couldn’t save her side as Sri Lanka went down to lose the league game in Women’s World Cup 2017 by 8 wickets. It was all about Atapattu after Sri Lankans were invited to bat first. She scored a brilliant 178* out of her team’s 258/9, a total which was never chased down before in the Women’s World Cup. However, the Australian captain Meg Lanning made history with an unbeaten 152, the highest ever in a run-chase in Women’s ODIs to guide her team to a comprehensive win.
