Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella, and Danushka Gunathilaka have received one year ban from all forms of international cricket and a six months ban from domestic cricket. The decision come when the trio was found guilty of breaching the bio-bubble during their England series while they were playing against them the last month. Their activities came to the limelight when they were found roaming on the streets of Durham through a video clip.

It has to be noted that the trio was sent back immediately from England during their series against Sri Lanka. And, it was stated by SLC that they will look into the matter closely before taking a big step. However, as soon as they were found guilty of their charges, they were announced with one year ban. In the same sequence of events, ace English cricketer Stuart Broad has come with his opinions on the matter.

Broad shockingly added, “year ban for that?” It is a known fact that the trio of Mendis, Dickwella, and Gunathilaka is quite important for the Lankan team, especially when the T20 World Cup is just round the corner. Due to their actions in England, they could not play the latest series against India and now it stands as a one-year ban. Sri Lanka was up against India in the limited-overs series which concluded two days back. In the same series, India won the ODI series but lost the T20I series playing with its depleted side.

Earlier a committee of five members was created to look into the matter, consisting of Justice Nimal Dissanayaka (Retired Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka), Panduka Keerthinanda, (Attorney-at-Law), Asela Rekawa (Attorney-at-Law), Uchitha Wickremasinghe (Attorney-at-Law), and Major General (Retired) M. R. W. They suggested the ban but waited for the green signal from SLC side.

As soon as the SLC gave a nod, it came up on the fore that the trio of players will be ban for one year and will also be fined 10 million Sri Lanka rupees. It will be seen if they will be given further relaxation in the same.
