Virat Kohli’s cricketing journey has been topsy-turvy. His debuts, be it domestic or international were disastrous, to say the least. But today the 28-year-old is among the top echelons of the game. Kohli’s journey thus evoked a lot of curiosity among followers of the sport.
With the amount of success he has seen in the last couple of years and the form he has carried everyone is interested to know what Virat does and thinks. A new book “Winning like Virat: Think & Succeed like Kohli” which is penned by Abhirup Bhattacharya, unearths the secrets of Virat’s consistent form, also trying to unravel his philosophy towards life.
The author attributes Kohli’s success to his dedication
While Kohli witnessed a slump in the just-concluded tenth edition of the Indian Premier League, there is no denying the fact he still remains a force to reckon with in world cricket and will be vital to India’s quest of regaining the Champions Trophy.
“If we focus on Virat, the cricketer and the man, we will find some extraordinary traits his leadership skills, the ability to keep his cool under pressure, a fearless attitude and a desire to win every game that have shaped him as he is today,” Bhattacharya writes in the book.
The author also explains that Virat’s journey has not been backed by luck but by sheer hard work and dedication, be it his maturity to handle the media or his business acumen.
“From off the field to his maturity in handling the media, from his business acumen to his excellent leadership and man-management skills – there is little doubt that Virat’s success is not a matter of luck alone but of relentless hard work and a dedicated goal to succeed,” he has mentioned.
“Virat Kohli enjoys Tendulkar-like fandom”
The author also makes another bold statement in the book. According to him, it is only Kohli who has managed stardom that comes anywhere even close to the fandom of Sachin Tendulkar. He opines that it is Virat who has re-captivated the attention of those from the 1990s to the TV screen just the way Sachin did.
