Yograj Singh, the former India cricketer and the father of Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has finally forgiven MS Dhoni, following the heroics of the Yuvraj-Dhoni partnership in the 2nd ODI at Cuttack. Yuvraj scored his 14th ODI century and his first since the 2011 World Cup, while Dhoni registered his 10th ton. This was also Yuvraj’s highest ODI score (150 runs).

The 58-year-old Yograj was critical of Dhoni’s captaincy and had on multiple occasions cursed Dhoni for his son’s exclusion from the Indian set up. “He (Dhoni) wasted 3 years of Yuvi”s cricket career. It was uncalled for. He should realize this and apologize to God almighty. I have always forgiven people who have done bad to me and my kids. God is great” he was quoted in Deccan Chronicle as saying.

He also added, “God bless Dhoni. I wanted him to score his hundred today,” Yograj said he has forgiven the former Indian captain for all his actions which had eluded Yuvraj from donning the blue. “Yes, I have forgiven Dhoni. God will take care of his doings. I pray to God to forgive him for his evil against my son Yuvi,” he said.

He also wished the best for his son for the upcoming matches and also had a word for his wife Hazel. “Yuvi, my son keeps working harder and harder. I pray to God all the time and thank him always. Congratulation to my loving elder daughter (in-law) Hazel (Keech). Be with him all the time. Love each other and look after each other always,” Yograj said.

In an interview to Maharashtra Times, Yograj had earlier blamed Dhoni and said, “Yuvraj is in the team because Dhoni is no longer the captain. I had said this couple of years ago that he would be back in the team once Dhoni wasn’t the captain. It’s proved true now.”

MS Dhoni had stepped down from limited-overs captaincy earlier this month.
