The Pakistan women’s team is languishing at the bottom of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 points table having lost their first two encounters by huge margins but, their skipper Bismah Maroof has earned a lot of respect around the world having staged a remarkable comeback to the field after giving birth to her first child Fatima six months ago.
In fact, Bismah also dedicated her half-century to her little princess as she brought out her cradle celebration during Pakistan’s second World Cup match against Australia at the Bay Oval on March 8. The vital knock had come on the occasion of International Women’s Day and that is what made it a lot more special.
It would have been great to have a win on Women’s Day: Bismah Maroof
After Pakistan’s seven-wicket loss to Australia, Bismah Maroof came up with a special message for all the girls who want to take up the sport as a career and at the same time also went on to mention that dreams do come true.
Taking to the micr0-blogging site, she wrote “It would have been great to have a win on #WomensDay but I want to tell all the women, especially little girls around the globe today: you are powerful, amazing & can pursue any dreams, no matter what. P.S thanks for all the love & prayers for me & my Fatima”.
Maroof also posted an image of her cradle celebration with baby Fatima giving an adorable look

Coming back to the contest, the Lahore cricketer went on to score an unbeaten 78 runs off 122 deliveries and found support in Aliya Riaz who scored 53 runs from 109 balls as Pakistan posted 190/6 from their 50 overs. Australia in reply reached the target without breaking a sweat riding on vital knocks from explosive opener Alyssa Healy who scored 72 and unbeaten knocks from star all-rounder Ellyse Perry and Beth Mooney who scored 26 and 23 respectively to add the finishing touches to this easy run chase.
The Women In Green would be hoping for a revival in fortunes in their Women’s World Cup 2022 campaign when they face South Africa at the same venue on March 11.
