Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has been on a roll lately, although not on the field, in the commentary box. Karthik didn’t take long in becoming a fan favorite as his comments with the microphone in hand are said a ‘breath of fresh air’. While his analysis shows his deep knowledge of the game, the wicketkeeper’s quirky remarks often left the fans in splits. Karthik is also evidently enjoying his maiden commentary stint in England.

On Wednesday (July 14), the 36-year-old took to Instagram and shared some of his super stylish pictures. In the snaps, Karthik can be seen posing in several different outfits. The comment section got flooded in no time with netizens heaping praising the wicketkeeper’s fashion quotient. However, when dashing Indian opener Rohit Sharma came across the post, he gave Karthik a gentle reminder that his days as a cricketer are not over yet.

“You still have some cricket left. FYI,” the Mumbai Indians captain wrote in the comment section. Notably, picking up the commentator’s job before retirement hasn’t been a popular idea among Indian cricketers. Hence, Karthik belongs to the rare breed of players.

Here’s Karthik’s Instagram post

Dinesh Karthik’s cricket days are far from over

Nevertheless, the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer is still determined to make a mark over 22 yards and that is evident in his reply to Rohit. “rohitsharma45 don’t ever doubt that Sham,” he responded. Needless to mention, the 36-year-old still has some gas left in his tank and he would be raring to shine in his upcoming assignments.

Karthik was last seen in the now-postponed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 where he couldn’t do much as KKR lost five of their seven games. Nevertheless, he’ll have a chance to redeem himself when the season resumes in September in UAE. Notably, regular KKR skipper Eoin Morgan isn’t likely to feature in the second leg of the competition. Hence, Karthik might also be asked to lead the team.

Speaking of Rohit Sharma, the star opener is gearing up for India’s upcoming five-match Test series against hosts England, starting from August 4. The opener has been impressive in red-ball cricket lately and would like to shine against the Three Lions as well. However, tackling the new Dukes ball in England conditions wouldn’t be easy for him.
