All-rounders have always been an “X Factor” for whichever team they play for. Besides, every side needs an all-rounder for striking the right balance. Thus, there are always a lot of expectations from youngsters who perform both the roles, i.e. batting and bowling. As far as youngsters go, there aren’t too many all-rounders as talented as Abhishek Sharma. He is considered as the next big thing in Indian cricket and his numbers are impressive as well.

Owing to the same, eyes of many team officials lit up when Abhishek’s name popped up in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. The southpaw’s bidding started at INR 20 lakh and multiple teams showcased intrest in him. Hence, Abhishek has become a hot property in the cricketing circle and expectations are high from him.  Notably, the youngster burst onto the scenes in the U19 World Cup in 2018. He played an integral role in India’s title-winning campaign and subsequentlt bagged an IPL contract.

Making his IPL debut for the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) in the eleventh edition of the league, he scored a breathtaking 19-ball 46. The fact that Abhishek was able to hit three consecutive boundaries against a world-class pacer like Tim Southee spoke volumes of his ability. The batting all-rounder was then traded to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and represented them for three seasons.

With a healthy strike rate of 139.01 in his T20 career so far, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that the 21-year-old has a lot of potential. CricTracker caught up with the all-rounder in an exclusive interview, wherein he spoke about a lot of things.
