Yuvraj Singh launches #Mission1000Beds to help Covid-19 patients across India

Elaborating on the reason behind the initiative, Yuvraj said that he was deeply impacted by the situation across the country.

The second wave of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has wretched havoc in India. In these testing times, the cricket fraternity has also shown solidarity with the people of India as many cricket players and organizations have come forward to donate or provide essential medical facilities to hospitals across the country. 

India’s swashbuckling all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is also one among the many cricketers who stepped forward to help India in a time of need. Yuvraj’s foundation, YouWeCan, recently launched #Mission1000Beds, a hospital capacity expansion solution to rapidly scale up the Covid-19 critical care facilities across India.

On Friday, the 39-year-old took to his official Twitter handle to reveal that his foundation has dispatched a number of beds and other medical equipment to Himachal Pradesh from Delhi. “Trucks with COVID critical care beds and medical equipment left from Delhi for Theog and Rohru in Himachal Pradesh last evening. Support our exciting journey to change healthcare for India!” Yuvraj Singh tweeted. 

Yuvraj Singh opens up on his initiative

The veteran all-rounder recently involved in an interactive conversion with Hindustan Times where he opened up what prompted him to launch the Mission 1000 beds. Elaborating on the reason behind the initiative, Yuvraj said that he was deeply impacted by the situation across the country.

“All of us have lost loved ones and also witnessed countless cases of people struggling for oxygen, ICU beds, and other critical care facilities required to combat COVID. I have been deeply impacted by this, too, and felt that we all need to step up to support our healthcare providers and the central as well as state governments who are all working tirelessly. So, we launched #Mission1000Beds — a hospital capacity expansion solution, which will rapidly scale up the Covid-19 critical care facilities across India,” Yuvraj said.

Further in the interaction, the Indian Stalwart asserted that the main objective of the mission is to strengthen the medical facilities in India which are required for the treatment of Covid-19 patient. Yuvraj revealed that it isn’t a short-term goal as they plan to serve the country for ten years or more.

“With this initiative, we aim to strengthen the capacity of government, Army, autonomous and charitable hospitals by setting up oxygenated beds, ventilators and BiPAP machines, along with other essential medical equipment which is required for critical care of COVID-19 patients. Not only will these enhance the current capacity of the hospitals, but will continue to serve patients for 10 years and beyond,” Yuvraj Singh concluded.
