Yuvraj Singh is widely regarded as one of the finest white-ball cricketers to have represented India. The dasher was a hard-hitter of the ball and many potent bowlers have been victims of his carnage. He was also a handy left-arm spinner along with being a live wire on the field. Not many players possess all these abilities which made Yuvraj special. On top of that, the southpaw’s ability to deliver at the big stage took India to many triumphs.

The left-handed batsman was instrumental in taking India to glory in the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup. However, the talismanic cricketer is retired now and one won’t see his blitzes in the national jersey anymore. Nevertheless, he’s counting on some players who can become the ‘next Yuvraj Singh.’ The southpaw backed the trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, and Rishabh Pant to shine as he did in the international arena.

We have got some good hitters in the middle: Yuvraj Singh

“I probably don’t see any left-hander right now in the middle (On being asked about the next Yuvraj Singh). Overall, we have got some good hitters in the middle. We have got Rishabh (Pant). We have got Hardik (Pandya). I think Rishabh and Hardik together as they play more one-day and T20 together, they both will be quite a dynamic duo, batting together,” Yuvraj said in a conversation with the Times of India.

“You have Ravindra Jadeja coming in. So, these three guys can change the course of the game anytime. Jadeja has improved by leaps and bounds in one-day cricket and T20 cricket. The left-right combination is always dangerous, as I and MS Dhoni were. So, I am looking forward to seeing Rishabh, Hardik, and Jadeja bat at the 5,6, and 7 slots,” he added.

Pant, Jadeja, and Pandya have certainly done well for Team India lately and it would be interesting to see if they can rise to Yuvraj’s expectations or not. Meanwhile, Jadeja and Pant will next be seen in India’s upcoming five-match Test series against hosts England which gets underway on August 4. At the same time, Pandya is gearing up for three ODIs and as many T20Is against Sri Lanka, starting from July 13.
