When one talks about the on-field moments between Dhoni and Yuvraj, the first thing that most probably would strike in the people’s mind is the 2011 ODI World Cup victory. India had last won the World Cup back in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev. Thus, in the year 2011, a lot of hopes were pinned on the team to lift the cup as India was hosting the mega event.
Chasing down the total, Dhoni had promoted himself up the order ahead of Yuvraj Singh. The then India skipper was one of the architects of the World Cup victory and his iconic six to finish the proceedings is etched in the hearts of the fans forever. However, post that six Yuvraj Singh who was on the non-striker’s end ran in to give the skipper a hug and that moment has an all-together special fan base.
Though Yuvraj doesn’t play in the IPL, Dhoni still is active with CSK and led the team to their fourth title win in 2021. What made the victory even more special is that the team had a dismaying outing in the previous edition as they did not make it to the playoffs for the first time in the history of the league. However, they brought a shift in their fortune the next season by being crowned as the champions.
