England pacer James Anderson became the first fast bowler to have achieved the feat of 600 Test wickets during the final and third match of the three-match Test series against Pakistan. His 600th wicket came in the form of opposition captain Azhar Ali who had performed exceptionally well with the bat in the Southampton Test.

Anderson had thrashed Pakistan’s batting line-up in the first innings as he took a five-wicket haul, and he returned in their second innings to pick Abid Ali and Azhar after the visitors were made to follow on. He also became the fourth player to reach the unthinkable mark of 600 or Test scalps as only Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble had previously broken the 600-wicket barrier in the longest format of the game.

In addition, the 38-year-old also became the second quickest to reach the milestone, in terms of balls taken, after Muttiah Muralitharan. A lot of wishes poured in for the speedster as he achieved this feat in his cricketing career. Cricketers from all over the world including the likes of Wasim Akram, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Herschelle Gibbs, Irfan Pathan, Anil Kumble, Ravi Ashwin and many more extended their warm wishes to James Anderson.
