Reports surfaced earlier in the day that Indian cricketer and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was booked in a domestic violence case in the national media. However, Yuvraj’s lawyer has confirmed and squashed all the rumours that no case has been filed against the left-handed batsman.

The case was in regards to Yuvraj’s brother Zoravar Singh, who was claimed to be booked for domestic violence after his former wife and Bigg Boss 10 contestant Akanksha Singh. The complaint was not only limited to Zoravar but also extended to Yuvraj and his mother, Shabnam Singh.

Allegedly, the case was filed in Gurugram, with a court issuing a notice to Yuvraj and his family to respond by October 21. However, Damanbir Singh Sobti, counsel for Yuvraj, Shabnam and Zorawar, denied that any case was registered against the cricketer.

Press Statement issued by Damanbir:

“There are certain misrepresentations being made in social media that a criminal complaint or an FIR has been registered against my clients on the basis of false and baseless allegations. No such FIR or complaint has been filed.” Damanbir told the press.

“Akanksha has filed a petition under Section 25 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and my clients have been arrayed as respondents and their counsel shall appear on their behalf on the date fixed before the Hon’ble Court at Gurgaon.” He further added.

The lawyer further went on to inform that Zorawar has filed a petition for granting divorce by mutual consent.

Akanksha’s appearance in Big Boss 10:

“In the interregnum Akanksha appeared in a show called Big Boss 10 run on Colors channel where she made certain scandalous, derogatory and defamatory statements/imputations against my clients Shabnam and Zorawar.” he further told.

Akanksha has claimed that she was under pressure from her in-laws who wanted her to have a baby. She has also told that she named Yuvraj in the complaint as he was a mute spectator during her predicament.

The matter will be investigated by an SDM or lady police officer who will submit a report to the court.
