Yuvraj Singh’s maiden ODI century bat goes into space

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has joined the bandwagon for the Non-Fungible Token (NFT). Earlier, on his 40th birthday on December 12, the southpaw had announced that he would be coming up with the Yuvraj Singh NFT Collection in association with Colexion on December 25.

Yuvraj’s bat is being launched in space as a part of a non-franchise token collection, based in Asia. It’s the very bat with which he racked up his maiden ODI century. A company, which issues non-franchise tokens, has entered into a partnership with Yuvraj.

Going by the company’s official website, the clip of Yuvraj’s bat going into space will be uploaded in the next one year or so. The netizens will also have a fair chance of buying ownership of the video. Yuvraj was over the moon after the massive recent development.

“I am thrilled to be able to share my bat NFT spaceflight,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying, BDcrictime reported. “Joining this new platform will deepen my relationship with the fans. I hit the first century with this bat,” he added.

Yuvraj Singh scoring a ton against Bangladesh

Yuvraj scored his maiden ODI ton back in 2003 against Bangladesh at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. After electing to bat first, the Men in Blue racked up a competitive score of 276 on the board and were bowled out three balls short of their 50 overs. Virender Sehwag, indeed scored a half-century, but it was Yuvraj who stole the show.

The left-hander came to bat after leg-spinner Alok Kapali pinned Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly in the 27th over. From there on, Yuvraj made sure that he played until the last over. He marched on his own merry way as he stayed unbeaten on 102 runs off 85 balls with nine fours and four sixes.

Thereafter, India bowled the Tigers, led by Khaled Mahmud Sujon, for 76 in 27.3 overs and won the match by 200 runs. Yuvraj also went on to bag the Player of the Match award.

Zaheer Khan was the pick of the Indian bowlers with four scalps in 7.3 overs. Yuvraj, after the ton, would go on to become of the greatest all-rounders India ever produced.
