Yuzvendra Chahal has quickly raised up the ranks in limited overs cricket. He alongside his spin twin Kuldeep Yadav has replaced India’s veteran spin pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Chahal is one of the top-performers for India with the ball in limited overs format. Continuing on with his good show, Chahal added another feather to his cap yesterday in the match against Bangladesh.

Chahal who bowls a very aggressive and wicket-taking lines and lengths is picking a large number of wickets in the recent times. Although he is on the expensive side, he often goes for the kill and ensures that he picks wickets in every game. It was no different in the game against Bangladesh and he ended the game with one wicket to his tally.

Yuzvendra Chahal now has 32 scalps to his name in T20Is

In the Bangladesh game, Chahal lured Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah with a short-pitched delivery. Out of all the places on the ground, Mahmudullah picked exactly the deep mid-wicket fielder, a ball that he could have dispatched anywhere. Rahul steadied himself under the ball and took a comfortable catch to help Chahal reach his 32nd wicket in T20Is.

Also, with this dismissal, Chahal has crossed Ravindra Jadeja’s tally of T20I wickets. Jadeja, who has 31 wickets to his name in 40 games is now behind Chahal. Furthermore, Chahal is now the fourth highest wicket-taker in T20Is for India. Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ashwin are ahead of Chahal in the list of highest wicket-takers. While Ashwin has picked up 52 wickets, Bumrah has picked 41. Nehra, who retired from international cricket recently is third with 34 wickets.

Given the kind of form that Chahal is in, it should be a cakewalk for him to go past Nehra. He would hope to put up a good performance in the finals and also help India win the Nidahas Trophy. Chahal’s next assignment is with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
