Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) lost Chris Woakes ahead of their game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as he was included in the England Test squad. Along with him, even Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler also left their team Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the three players were told by ECB to report by May 17 for the first Test against Pakistan on 25th of the same month. However, Woakes also came up with a farewell message for his teammates with whom he spent more than a month in India to which Yuzvendra Chahal replied in a hilarious manner.
Woakes was part of the playing XI for five matches at the start of the season but failed to make an impact with his bowling. He picked 8 wickets and at one stage was the owner of the purple cap. But his performance tailed off and leaked runs at an economy of 10.37. He was eventually dropped from the team but seems to have enjoyed his maiden stint with RCB especially playing under the skipper Virat Kohli.
Woakes’ message
Much like his other two England teammates, Chris Woakes got emotional while leaving India and dedicated a special message for his mates. He also hoped that RCB goes all the way and lay their hands on the glittering trophy. “Thoroughly enjoyed my time at this years IPL with @royalchallengersbangalore ! I will be following closely from home and backing the boys to go all the way good luck lads! #playbold @iplt20 @yuzi_chahal23,” his message on Instagram read.
However, Yuzvendra Chahal got cheeky in his reply and revealed the nickname of Woakes while commenting on his post which read, “Miss you my chintu brother see you soon @chriswoakes.” Moeen Ali also joined the conversation then as the fans also enjoyed the banter.
As far as the chances of RCB to qualify for the playoffs is concerned, they are still in contention and will have to win both their remaining matches against SRH and RR. Interestingly, they have peaked at the right time and is looking like a team to beat now.
