Indian wrist spinners are on the song in the ongoing South Africa tour where Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have destroyed the Protea batters in the 6-match ODI series which India won 5-1. Both the spinners collectively took 33 wickets in the series. Yuzvendra Chahal was spotted wearing glasses while on the field during the first T20 game in the 3-match series.

Chahal picked up one wicket during the match which saw Bhuvneshwar Kumar take charge as the latter became first ever Indian to have a fifer in all the three international formats of the game. One would’ve thought if Chahal was having some issues with his eyes, he was never seen wearing the glasses while on the field. He did not wear the spectacles while bowling but donned the same while on the field.

His father, KK Chahal while speaking to Mid-day revealed that his son wore the glasses as a precaution. Chahal’s father said that before leaving for the tour, an eye specialist had suggested the 27-year-old to wear the glasses occasionally. “Before going on the tour to South Africa, Yuzvendra was advised by an eye specialist to wear glasses occasionally. So, though he does not wear them while bowling or batting, he does so while fielding,” Chahal’s father told mid-day.

New job needed an eye checkup

Chahal Sr. revealed that when his son was taking up the job of an Income Tax inspector he was advised to wear the glasses. He told that his eyesight is not very weak. “His eyesight is not very weak but he was advised to use glasses when he underwent medical tests which were compulsory before taking up his new job as an Income Tax inspector. Yuzvendra will be joining the office in Delhi as soon as he returns from South Africa”, he told mid-day.

India will take on South Africa in the 2nd T20I on Wednesday and look forward the seal the series with a win before the final game of the long tour.
