There is little denying the fact that KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya’s appearance on popular chat show Koffee with Karan caused a huge stir on social media. From Pandya’s derogatory comments on women to both the cricketers revealing about their flashy lifestyles and other personal details, the talk show sprung quite a few eye-popping surprises. One of the highlights of the episode was when the two were asked to choose the better batsman between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar.

The Tendulkar versus Kohli debate is nothing new in cricket. Kohli’s unprecedented consistency with the bat has made many call him the worthy successor of the legendary Tendulkar. While the former India cricketer retired from the game as the most decorated batsman, Kohli is well on his way of creating his own legacy. Arguably the finest batsman in the world right now, Kohli has made a habit of breaking Tendulkar’s records every now and then.

But then again comparisons rarely come to a conclusion and the cricketing world has also struggled to find the better batsman between the two. But while the jury is still out to decide the outcome of the debate, Pandya and Rahul had little trouble in picking Kohli over Tendulkar as the better batsman. However, their bold comment did not go down well with the fans as they were a recipient of a major backlash on Twitter.

Famous stand-up comedian Zakir Khan also seems to be disappointed with Pandya and Rahul’s bold comment and he too took to Twitter to have a say on the matter. Keeping it short and precise, Zakir wrote:

“Sachin Sabka baap hai!! (Sachin is everyone’s father).”

Pandya apologises:

Meanwhile, Pandya issued an apology on Wednesday after facing heavy criticism on social media. He took to Instagram to insist that the nature of the show made him get carried away. The all-rounder made it clear that he did not want to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
