Zimbabwe and Bangladesh are currently involved in the third and final ODI of the series. The contest has been sealed already with the visitors winning the first two matches. However, with the World Cup Super League points at stake, both the teams are fighting it out hard in the dead rubber game. The hosts, after being put into bat, have done really well to post a good enough total of 298 runs on the board in 50 overs.

They had lost five inside the first 35 overs and many felt that they will end up with a below-par total. However, Ryan Burl and Sikandar Raza slammed half-centuries and despite a collapse in the death overs, they managed to post a total of 300 in their allotted overs. Burl, especially, was the enforcer late in the innings scoring 59 runs off 43 balls smashing four fours and as many sixes.

The power-hitter displayed his amazing hitting skills but one of his shots left many stunned in the 49th over of the innings. Mohammad Saifuddin ran in to bowl at the batsman and followed Burl who was shuffling outside the off-stump. However, Burl was up to the task and played a brilliant whip shot to smack the ball for a huge six.

Tamim Iqbal shines in the chase for Bangladesh

The target of 299 runs was always going to be tough for Bangladesh but their skipper Tamim Iqbal stood tall for his team. He played some aggressive strokes and slammed a brilliant century. He first stitched a good opening stand of 88 runs with Liton Das who got out after scoring 32 runs and then the talisman batsman Shakib Al Hasan also scored 30 runs before getting out to Luke Jongwe.

Bangladesh look set to whitewash the home side despite Zimbabwe putting up a decent effort with the bat. The two teams will be facing each other in the three-match T20I series after this match. The three matches are set to be played on July 22, 23 and 25. Due to logistical challenges, the matches have been preponed by a couple of days.
