Over the years the game has evolved in various aspects and one of them is the change in the salary structure of different cricket authorities. The professionalism of the sport has reached a new level. Now with the advent of T20 leagues, it has become necessary that the stars are provided with a proper share of the profit earned by the cricket boards in order to maintain the harmony.

Since the last decade, most of the players earn a lot of money from the commercial world. Among them, the established ones get lucrative deals but the newbies are solely dependent on the central contracts. There are various websites that publish these data and Sports eon and Sports maza are a couple of them from where the references are taken for this article.

The mercurial rise of Afghanistan cricket would not have been possible without the services of their former skipper, Asghar Afghan. The middle-order batsman has been a pillar of their batting unit. When the team won its first ODI against the Test playing nation Bangladesh, Asghar led the side with an unbeaten 90.

Recently, he was relieved of leadership duties by the ACB (Afghanistan Cricket Board) just before the 2019 World Cup but he is still the most paid cricketer in the country. A couple of years back Asghar was drawing a monthly salary of $400 USD (Rs 27,761) but now the players have demanded a larger share of the sponsorship money. Telecom group Etisalat is partnered with the Afghanistan cricket. Now his yearly salary is around $8400 USD which approximately equals to Rs 5.83 lakhs.
