A bustling fast bowler and an aggressive lower-order batsman, Andre Rusell has earned a reputation as one of the most prominent limited overs cricketers in the world. He is a wholesome cricketer. With the ball in his hand, he can consistently clock 140 kph and can hit some crunch shots as a lower middle order batsman. He also makes his presence felt in the outfield with his electric fielding abilities.

In the season 2010, Rusell played at Barnards Green Cricket Club, Worcestershire, England, helping them secure promotion from Worcestershire Cricket League into Birmingham League cricket. He took 39 wickets at an average of 10.15. He also led the averages with his batting, hitting 799 runs in 11 innings at an average of 99.88 (3 Nos).

His initial all-round performances for West Indies got the cricketer instant attention and impressed the likes of Sir Vivian Richards, who counted him as one of the future players to watch out for.

Russell made his Test cricket debut against Sri Lanka in November 2010

He made his ODI debut in the 2011 Cricket World Cup match against Ireland at Mohali. He took 1/37 in the match.

6. Enters IPL:

During the 2012 Indian Premier League Players Auction, he was bought by the Delhi Daredevils for a sum of $450,000. He currently plays for Delhi Daredevils.

7. Unique record:

On 21 September 2013, in a match against India A he became the first bowler in T20 to take 4 wickets in 4 successive deliveries taking the wickets of Kedar Jadhav, Yuvraj Singh, Naman Ojha and Yusuf Pathan.

8. Part of two World Cup winning team:

Andre Rusell was the part of two World Cup-winning team (2012 & 2016). Both the title came in the T20 format.

9. The recording artist:

In 2014, he began a second career as a recording artist under the name ‘Dre Russ’, with two singles set for release in November, one a collaboration with Beenie Man.

10. Wins inaugural PSL title:

In the 2016 Pakistan Super League, he played for Islamabad United. He was drafted in by United For US$140,000 during an initial player draft that took place on 21-22 Dec 2015. His side won the inaugural Edition of PSL He was an important member of the side as he finished the tournament as leading wicket-taker,

11. A T20 player with great reputation:

Andre Russell is one of the most sought after T20 players in the world and plays for various franchises. He plays for Sydney Thunders (Big Bash League), Sylhet Royals (Bangladesh Premier League), Jamaica Tallawahs (Caribbean Premier League), Islamabad United (Pakistan Super League) and Delhi Daredevils (Indian Premier League).
