14 Legends who did not win the IPL trophy: Cricket is a team game. No matter how talented and exceptional you maybe you cannot succeed if your team-mates don’t provide ample support. As we all know the IPL is an eminent, widely followed million dollar league in which a lot of legends of the game have taken part. Some have been really very unfortunate to not have won the league despite their great skill and talent. Here is our list of 14 Legends who did not win the IPL trophy. 1. Glenn McGrath: Glenn McGrath DD .(© Getty Images) The Australian pace-bowling legend is a three time world cup winner. But he didn’t have the same luck with the IPL. McGrath represented the Delhi Daredevils team and was one of the most economical bowlers in the first season, but unfortunately his team couldn’t win the title. 2. Anil Kumble: Anil Kumble RCB. He was part of RCB and MI, and boasts of an incredible 5-5 best bowling figures in the IPL. But Kumble could never get his hands on the IPL trophy. 3. Rahul Dravid: Rahul Dravid RR. He was never considered a T20 material, but he silenced all his critics with wonderful performances in the IPL. His 75 off 36 balls was one of his best innings. But Dravid could never win the cup with both the teams. Now the ‘wall’ is the mentor of RR, who knows this time he might win it with his young team. 4. Virender Sehwag: Virender Sehwag KXIP. (Photo Source: BCCI) The flamboyant fearless batter who is a WC winner has remained ill-fated when it comes to the IPL. Virender Sehwag hasn’t won the title in all of these 8 seasons, despite giving his best in all the seasons. He has an IPL hundred to his name. The seasons where he performed incredibly well, the team let him down and Viru has been completely out of touch in the 2015 edition. 5. Shaun Pollock: Shaun Pollock MI .(© Getty Images) Shaun Pollock is among the best all-rounder’s we have seen perform in international cricket. He served South Africa for more than a decade with the ball and bat. As we all know the Proteas have never managed to win the World Cup and so Shaun was too deprived off the privilege. Add more unfairness to it and this legend even in the IPL failed to be a part of the squad that won the trophy. 6. Sourav Ganguly: Sourav Ganguly KKR. Ganguly was picked by Shah Rukh Khan’s KKR initially as their icon and then did a short stint with now scrapped Sahara Pune Warriors India. As unlucky as he was during the 2003 WC Final, he was unlucky in the IPL too and failed to win the cup. The big trophies have always managed to elude this man, and he had to retire without one in his hands. 7. Yuvraj Singh: Yuvraj Singh. (Photo Source: BCCI) Yuvraj Singh is the youngest guy in the list, though he is here for an unpleasing reason, not to forget he is being considered a legend. The man who has all the ICC trophy medals in his name be it the U-19 World Cup, Champions Trophy 2002 (India was the joint winners with Sri Lanka), ICC World T20, 2007, ICC World Cup 2011 should surely be missing that IPL Champions Memento in his cabinet. Yuvi has time and we are sure he will get his hands on the Gold today or tomorrow. 8. AB de Villiers: AB de Villiers RCB. (Photo Source: BCCI) AB de Villiers has been unlucky both with the world cup as well as with the IPL. He has been consistently putting in good performances for RCB, but his team never even got to the trophy. AB was earlier a part of the Delhi Daredevils team and couldn’t reach the finals there as well. Despite being one of the most talented cricketers of our generation, he has been unfortunate not to have won any ICC tournament or the IPL. 9. Brad Hodge: Brad Hodge RR. (Photo Source: BCCI) One of the best T20 players and one of the highest run getters in the format, Hodge was part of the KKR squad earlier, where he occasionally put in some good performances. He then represented the RR franchise but has been unlucky there as well and couldn’t win the cup. 10. Daniel Vettori: Daniel Vettori RCB. Dan is now the current head of RCB; maybe he can cherish his dream of winning the cup this time around. 11. Sanath Jayasuriya: Sanath Jayasuriya MI. But has failed to reach even the finals with the MI team. 12. Zaheer Khan Zaheer Khan DD. (Photo Source: BCCI) In Indian cricket Zaheer Khan signifies a champion bowler who has seen everything in his career, from a heart breaking defeat in the final of a world cup to coming back two championships later to conquer it. The guy who can run through any given batting lineup when at his best, has been on and off in the IPL. Zak has switched quite a few sides in all his years at the League, but could never be a part of the squad that went on to win the world cup, and it seems he will have to wait for another chance as his team has already moved far from qualifying for the play offs in IPL 2015. 13. Chris Gayle Chris Gayle RCB.(Photo Source: BCCI) There is absolutely nothing left in the T20 format for Chris Gayle to achieve with the bat, he has his fifties, hundreds, one hundred fifties, has the fastest 100, and 150 to his name. Is the guy who holds the record for the highest individual score in the IPL as well as T20s on the whole. But wait, has his team ever won the IPL? No it hasn’t, and Gayle must be burning inside to hold that Golden IPL trophy soon. 14. Virat Kohli Virat Kohli RCB 2015. (Photo Source: BCCI) Let’s start with ticking a few boxes, the U19 world cup? Tick, The 50 over’s world cup? Tick, the ICC Champions Trophy? Tick. Did we miss out on something important? Yes the Indian Premier League oh, but that isn’t there, and this is when one comes to realize of the aspect, the medal which is missing from getting around to this man Virat Kohli. Will he lift the cup in 2015? We will know that in a few days but till then he continues to stay in this list.
