Despite several big names present in the team, team India also ignored their two prominent spinners in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. The likes of Rahul Chahar and Varun Chakravarthy were included in team India’s squad after performing well during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Both spinners were given a reality check at the World Cup as both of them went wicketless in the tournament. While Varun was thrashed by the Pakistani openers during the first match, he gave away only 23 runs in the second match against New Zealand but could not scalp any wickets.
Chahar played only one match in the tournament which was also India’s last league stage game against Namibia. However, the leg-spinner didn’t have the best of days as he could not grab any wickets in that match as team India’s campaign ended following their victory against an associate nation.
