In this decade many of the greats took retirement from international cricket who were contributed to lay the foundation of a dominating team India.

Rahul Dravid announced his retirement from international cricket on March 2012. The Wall scored 13,288 runs in 164 Tests with an average of 52.31 and scored 10,889 runs in 344 ODIs. The wall had scored 36 centuries in Test cricket and 12 in ODI cricket. He played his last ODI against England on September 2011 at Cardiff and the last Test was played against <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/australia-vs-new-zealand-players-to-wear-black-armbands-to-honour-bushfire-victims-in-sydney/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Australia </a>on January 2012 at Adelaide.

Sachin Tendulkar also announced his retirement from ODIs in December 2012 and retired from T20 cricket in October 2013 and subsequently retired from all forms of cricket on 16 November 2013 after playing his 200th Test match, against the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Master Blaster scored 15,921 runs in 200 test matches with an average of 53.78 and scored 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs with an average of 44.83- establishing himself as one of the greats.
