The Big Bash League (BBL) certainly derives its roots from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Over the years, the two giants have produced players who are on the verge of becoming world-class cricketers not only in the shortest format but also overall.

The IPL has been the most followed cricketing league. Along with being the most popular competition, it is also most lucrative of them of all. There have been several players who have sought million dollar contracts in the cash-rich league after performing exquisitely in the Australian T20 extravaganza.

Meanwhile, with the auction set to take place on December 18, there are certain players in the BBL who could get picked and then go on to perform well in the upcoming season to impress the franchises.

Here we bring you three such players:

Jake Weatherald was unleashed in the previous season of the Big Bash League for Adelaide Strikers and made huge strides as a batsman. He was awarded the Man of the Match in the final for his whirlwind century. The left-hander has been shortlisted in the IPL auction and has a base price of 20 Lakhs and could ignite a bidding war among several franchises.

Weatherald accumulated 383 runs in 12 matches in his maiden appearance for the defending champions and scored a century and three fifties at an average of nearly 32. The 24-year old could be targeted by Kings XI Punjab who faced severe problems with their opening pair in the previous IPL edition.
