Mujeeb Ur Rahman is currently sitting in the No.2 position in the ICC ODI and T20I rankings. That is exactly how good a bowler this Afghan player is. It was surprising how Kings XI Punjab going through a rebuilding phase released him from their squad. A good overseas spinner who is 21 years old is something no franchise would want to let off considering the future of the team.

This is exactly which brings us to the question, why would the Kings XI Punjab release him? The fact that he played only seven matches in the 2019 and 2020 seasons combined. He kept warming the benches while other spinners took the field for the Kings XI Punjab. This is where we think that Punjab could be betting once again for Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

He had been bought by KXIP for INR 4.0 crore ahead of the 2018 IPL season. Even though the amount is not so big, it seems that the general opinion is that Mujeeb will fetch much lesser than that in this auction.

It is quite possible that Kings XI will once again try to buy Mujeeb and keep him ready for the 2021 season. Interestingly, Mujeeb has had a great season with Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League 2020-21.
