The responsibility of captaining a side has transformed the career of many cricketers over the years. It is one of the most important aspects of a successful team. In the fast-paced T20 cricket it becomes even more important as a few overs can change the course of the game. In the last 11 years since its inception, the Indian Premier League has seen various players captaining their side and the tournament has played a major role in giving some young players the opportunity to showcase their leadership skills.

Even some legends of the game like Shane Warne who was deprived of the leadership duties throughout their career are thankful to the IPL to allow them to demonstrate their leadership skills. Indian cricketers like Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir got the opportunity to showcase their captaincy skills in the IPL and the added responsibility did wonders to their game and also improved them as players.

Having touted as the next big thing in  Indian cricket after Virat Kohli, Shaw has already led the Indian U19 team to victory in the U19 World Cup in 2018. Along with his elegant footwork and “Tendulkar” like technique, Shaw has already been seen by many as a future leader of Indian cricket.

He was picked by the Delhi Capitals team in the 2018 IPL auction and impressed everyone in his first IPL. He slowly became an integral part of the Delhi team as the tournament progressed and is expected to be one of their key player in the 2019 edition of the IPL. With the amount of talent he possesses and the maturity he has shown at a young age, Prithvi Shaw is destined for bigger things and captaining an IPL team will be definitely one of them.
