The Bollywood stars and Indian cricketers along with other prominent sportsmen took on each other in a game of football. In a high-intensity sport like football, players do get serious about the match even if they are not professionals. The Celebrity Clasico 2017 had already grabbed a lot of attention and the fans were eagerly waiting for the clash between Virat Kohli’s All Heart FC and Ranbir Kapoor’s All Stars.

Team India had practised for the game, they had a set plan in place and were not willing to settle for anything but a win this time. In the previous edition last year, the game ended in a draw 2-2 as the All Heart FC came back 2-0 from behind to level the game. This time round, a much better effort led by former Indian skipper MS Dhoni and they were 3-0 at half time, by the time the game ended the AH FC had pushed 7 into the net while the opposition managed just 3. Here are some of the top moments from the game:

1. MS Dhoni was the star of the show

Dhoni, who was a goalkeeper at the school level showed his footballing skills today. He was a constant threat throughout the game and was a headache for the defenders. He opened the scoring for the All Heart in the 7th minute of the game when his long ranger got a deflection and went into the net.

He was everywhere on the pitch and was assigned the duty of taking the set pieces. And he doubled the lead with a free-kick. It was a brilliant free-kick from the Indian captain as the goalkeeper was helpless. Now MS Dhoni has more free-kick goals this season than a certain Leo Messi.

2. Virat Kohli got his goal

Virat Kohli didn’t have best of games as he tried hard to get his name on the scoresheet. He was marked well by the defenders as he tried to get into good positions. Quite often he was getting outpaced by the defenders. His team was doing well but Kohli is a person who wants to lead from the front. The Indian captain is famous for his fighting spirit and kept on fighting for the goal. He did finally get his goal in the injury time as he made it 6-3 for the All Heart and killed any hopes of a comeback from All Stars.

3. Ranbir Kapoor was the hero for All Stars

His team was getting trounced by the All Heart but Ranbir did try his best to keep the All Stars in the game. He looked the most likely to score the equalizer in the first half as he came close to scoring quite a few number of times. He had not forgotten to put his shooting boots on as he kept trying out his luck from distance.

RK did cap off a brilliant performance with a goal. He scored in the 57th minute with a powerful shot and made it 4-2 to give some hope to his team.

4. 4 quick goals in frantic 12 minutes period

The game had seen 6 goals before the 85th minute much to the excitement of the audience. But then came a frantic 12 minutes period in which we saw 4 goals. Kedar Jadhav scored in the 85th minute to give a 5-2 lead to All Heart FC which seemingly killed the match.

But AS FC were not in a mood to go away without a fight. Aadar Jain scored in the 89th minute to make it 5-3 to bring back life in the game. But Indian captain Virat Kohli scored to make it 6-3 and killed any chances of a recovery from All Stars. Shikhar Dhawan also scored in the 97th minute to put an icing on the cake to make it 7-3.

5. Both teams took a lap of honour

It was raining heavily in Mumbai still the crowd at the Andheri Sports Complex braved the weather to come to watch their favourite stars in action. The celebrities and cricketers thanked the supporters for their support by doing a lap of honour after the match.

It is not every day that you get to see your favourite cricketers and film stars playing another sport and that for a nobel cause.  Overall it was a very entertaining game and the crowd got their money’s worth.
