2. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is another unorthodox batsman not known for his technique but his ability and skill. The wicketkeeper-batsman isn’t highly gifted. Though, he has been highly effective over the years and is a master of his art. Like most of the other unorthodox batsmen do, even MS Dhoni has got a few idiosyncrasies which are quite peculiar.
(i) MS Dhoni steps onto the field by planting his right leg first and looks behind on the left towards the sky whenever he walks out to bat.
(ii) When he is at the crease, MSD looks around to check the field. Then, he raises both his arms up, adjusts his sleeves. When facing the fast bowlers, he touches his helmet and then moves his left arm to adjust the sleeve. Mostly after every ball, he hits his right thigh pad with the right glove. Then collects the bat in his right hand and touches his left thigh pad before taking his stance.
(iii) Whenever he hits a boundary, the wicketkeeper-batsman tucks his bat in his arm, walks down the pitch and removes the strap of both his gloves before putting them back in place again.
