The Indian cricket team has seen a lot of great players come and go. Some get chances and make it big at the international level while some miss out on those opportunities given to them and are lost in the sea of the millions of players that come into the scene each day. There are also cases where the selectors tend to favour a certain player after observing their talents for some time.

But for the players, the situation gets really tricky when the panel of selectors gets revamped. In this process, certain players who might have been given opportunities based on their previous performances and that could have led to their revival of form, miss out and this often costs them dearly. So, here’s a look at five such players, who may not get the chance to represent the Indian team after the new selection panel of Indian cricket, headed by Sunil Joshi takes over the duties.

Here are the five players:

1. Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav is one of those names in the team whose selection has been a point of discussion in the last few months. With age creeping upon him, his reflexes are not that sharp as they used to be when he was at his prime and his numbers are also being affected by this too.

In the three bilateral series that he has played after the World Cup in 2019, his numbers are not impressive at all. In the 7 innings that he batted in, he was able to accumulate a total of 135 runs at an average of around 30 runs. One of the things that used to be his speciality was his low angled bowling that fetched him wickets in the middle overs has not been working out too.

Jadhav’s blowing services were not even used by his captain Virat Kohli in all the matches of the One Day International series against New Zealand. In the series prior to that, against the West Indies, he bowled only a single over.

Given the inflow of the younger players like Rahul Chahar, Krunal Pandya and Shivam Dube who have been excelling as an all-rounder pose a threat to his already weak position in the team. And, to add to that, the new panel of selectors would not prefer him over other players, who have the potential to perform better than Jadhav.
