Marlon Samuels is a tough nut to crack, as he stands up when his team needs him the most. Unlike the other Caribbean players, the Jamaican cricketer has a different style of batting, and he has the technique to survive on tough surfaces. Samuels contribution to the Windies cricket is always held in high regard, and his T20I record speaks for himself. His two T20 World Cup final knocks are part of cricket folklore.

Samuels didn’t attract any buyer in the initial years of IPL, as a lot of uncertainties were surrounding him due to his brief ban from international cricket. Eventually, he became part of the IPL bandwagon in 2012, but he generated some miserable numbers in that season. The all-rounder was always given opportunities at top of the order, but he never played a substantial inning. In his 3-year IPL career, Samuels was part of 2 teams, but he was not able to establish as a proven match-winner in his stay.
