When Angelo Mathews burst into the scene, he was considered as the next big thing from the pearl of the Indian ocean. He is a cricketer with immense potential who can win matches for his team on his own. Mathews is a reliable batsman who can be an aggressor with his hitting skills and can also play the anchor role if the team is in trouble. He is one of the stars of Sri Lanka’s 2014 T20 World Cup winning campaign.

The all-rounder from the island nation started his IPL career with a bang, as he won the MOM in only his second game. Mathews was looked as a match-winner with bat and ball by most of the franchises. He had the power game which prompted the teams to give him the role of a finisher, but apart from a couple of heroics Mathews always failed to deliver on his promise. The former Lankan skipper played 6 seasons of IPL in which he represented 3 teams, but his performances were always below par.
